The Coastal Barn or Gårdshuset

As part of the beautiful ensemble of buildings at the Museum of the Coastal Swedes, there’s also the Coastal Barn or Gårdshuset. The Coastal Barn is part of the museum’s exhibition and open to visitors during the summer months. Inside the Coastal Barn’s exhibition space, various household items used by the Coastal Swedes in the past are on display. There is also Noarootsi rupp, a type of boat used for work across Haapsalu Bay in the city. There are also carts, larger agricultural tools, a hand mill, a winnowing machine, sledges, and other household items.

The building was completed in the spring of 2019. The construction of the house was supported by Bengt Heyman, Einar Hamberg, and Ester Hamberg.

Under the roof of the Coastal Barn are also essential utility rooms: a tool shed and a garage.
